AJ Tracey: West London's Biggest Boy!

RnB/Hip Hop | Monday 15th May 2017 | Kat

He's the man who dropped out of a Criminology course at London Met University to pursue his music career and now AJ Tracey's gamble has paid off and he has made it big.

In 2016 AJ won 'Best Breakthrough Act' at the Rated Awards, and was nominated for the 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best Grime Act' at the MOBO's. He's gaining popularity by the daily for his original bars and new sound.

If you're intrigued to why his name is AJ Tracey, then he explains why.

Speaking to GRM, AJ explained, "Basically, when I used to shot, I couldn't give my real name. I used to wear loads of Armani, so I called myself AJ. The Tracey comes from this guy called Stacey in my ends. Everyone used to be/is scared of him, so I thought, if a man has a girls name and he's still scaring people, then maybe I should try doing it so I can be that guy.

He started with dropping his tunes on pirate radio stations like Mode, Deja Vu, and Radar. His debut EP The Front released in 2015 gave him the recognition he deserved.

Some of his biggest tracks to date are 'Spirit Bomb' and 'Pasta'.

His music combines 140bmp beats, electronic noises, and lyrics that many young people living in London can relate to. He spits about everything from sports players, to girls, to Fifa.

Get to know AJ if you're a grime fan because soon everyone will be on him!
