Mike Huckaby is shifting gears
Detroit deep house and techno master Mike Huckaby is releasing his new EP Shifting Gears on Half Baked.
Huckaby is the eighth artist to sign up to release on the label arm of the esteemed London party, and will join the crew when he plays with them at Studio 338 on Easter Sunday March 27th alongside the likes of Dan Ghenacia, DJ Qu, Point G, Cabanne,Yone-Ko and Robin Ordell as well as a secret guest.
Known for crafting and releasing much used sample CDs made from his collection of amazing analogue gear, Huckaby serves up two killer tracks on this EP. The opener 'First Gear' is a mid tempo deep house cut, with lush pads and warm analogue textures combining for an atmospheric listen. 'Second Gear' is a more skippy affair with choppy drums and jazz inflections channeled into a warm house cut. All in all, it's a perfect partnership of label and artist.
