Introducing Beacons Festival
Monday 24th June 2013 | Vilma
Where to go for an affordable weekend in Ausgust with some of the best electronic acts in the world right now? Head to North Yorkshire and enjoy the multi-talents at Beacons Festival!
Beacons Festival in Skipton, North Yorkshire, celebrates a vast array of talent as well as numerous activities targeted at festival goers of all ages. For less than £100, one can enjoy three days of festivities (16-18th August) with top names such as SBTRKT, Ghostpoet, Oneman and Gold Panda.
One of the most-anticipated acts of the weekend is Simon Green aka Bonobo, who with his most recent album The North Borders secured a place at the top of electronic music. His live performances are always supported by a full band, so both faster beats as well as more relaxed tunes such as ‘Pieces’, his collaboration with Cornelia, are breathtaking to see:
Floating Points (aka Sam Shepherd) is recognised for his subtle blends of jazz and house, but he is known for vinyl-only live shows, which mix genres so spectacularly that he gets even the most serious of festival goers dancing. For fans of Floating Points, tracks such as ‘Vacuum Boogie’ are worth seeing live:
In addition to incredible music acts, the festival organisers announced that the bar for culinary offerings will be raised this summer with an international assortment of stalls including everything from Indian to Mexican food. A new feature for the 2013 festival is a mysterious ‘The Space Between’ arts field that is an interactive area with different visual and auditory stimulation. It definitely sounds worth a visit! Another element that is unique at Beacons Festival are the tipis and tents that are available for groups of festival goers, including children, who are welcome at Beacons and have a lot of activities targeted at them specifically.
It truly sounds like an enthralling weekend amongst great music and various attractions for everyone!
