Hannah V is a classically trained musician who is often on the road playing keys for music royalty such as Jessie J, Rihanna and Gnarls Barkley. She also streams her own music, which is influenced by classic R&B and soul, and is full of modern production techniques, dance floor elements, knocking drums, screeching synths and gritty bottom ends.
After releasing her EP Version 2.0 in April, with the title track being premiered by Mistajam, Hannah V has now turned her attention to a series of intriguing remixes, beginning three weeks ago with Rihanna’s ‘BBHMM’. The second remix, premiered last night via Periscope, is a fresh, emotive, key-filled version of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Swimming Pools’, which perfectly showcases her ability to blend classical training with modern production.
Speaking about the inspiration for the remix, Hannah said, “I was having a really shitty week. I had to move out of the house that I had called home for the last 5 years. The first place that felt like HOME in over 15 years. And added to that, I was too skint to get effed up! I couldn’t even drink the pain away!! So, instead - this remix was born. I think you can sense the heaviness and sadness in this. The beautiful thing about music is that it is a healer. I feel a million times better after having finished this! I only hope I did King Kendrick justice!”
