App of the month: Snap chat

Developed by four Stanford students the “in thing” for everyone with an iPhone or android is Snap chat. Let’s all be honest we all laughed when we first saw it. Sending picture messages to friends? So old school. But there’s something strangely addictive about this simple quirky little app. It was first launched in September 2011 where Evan Spiegel (creator of the app) pitched the idea in his father’s living room. In May 2012, 25 images were being sent per second. To this date 20million photos are being shared a day all over the world. But what’s so strangely addictive about sending a cheeky snap too a friend. Is it the fact it can only last ten seconds to then never be seen again or the fact that everyone has it?
It’s hard to find anyone now who isn’t on Snap chat and it seems to only be growing rapidly faster with its amount of users. For something so simple its taken on a huge reputation in the Application world. Is Snap chat the new texting? We aren’t sure what it is about this app either but were hooked. Were also hoping for snap chat to update its self with new features in the near future but to still keep its humbleness? You can download Snap chat of the App store on the Iphone or Android. So get snapping and get chatting. Mark Zuckerberg watch out.
