'Heart & Soul' the powerful acoustic album by Clinton Fearon

‘Heart & Soul’ embodies Clinton Fearon’s early work with the Gladiators, one of Jamaica’s original roots reggae bands. He wrote these 12 songs between 1969 and 1985, a time of social and political upheaval reminiscent of today’s worldwide justice movement. – C. Biscuit
Clinton Fearon has had a prolific career in reggae since he first started performing professionally in Jamaica at the age of 19. Made famous by joining the Gladiators in 1969, Clinton performed as bassist, lyricist and vocalist during the eight years he was with the band. He was also a house musician at legendary producers Coxsonne Dodd’s Studio One and Lee “Scratch” Perry Black Ark Studio, as well as composing some everlasting bass lines for well known artists like Yabby You, Jimmy Riley, Max Romeo and Junior Byles amongst others. Today, he is rightly counted among Jamaica’s most talented musicians by peers and professionals in the Reggae music industry.
Heart & Soul gives us something truly special, you will find no drum machine, sampler or synthesizer on this newest of Clinton Fearon’s works, instead entirely acoustic you hear the sounds of traditional and improvisational instruments, the cowbell, comb scratch, bamboo joint and even if you listen hard enough the ping of a spoon against glasses of water! But Heart & Soul does not reject modern technology, instead the special effects are saved for something truly special, every vocal, every instrument is performed by Clinton himself. Experience that legendary bass backbone ripple like never before as his affecting melodies and core rhythms sweep you away with their entrancing harmonies.
When he is not singing acoustically, Clinton Fearon is playing with the six musicians of Boogie Brown Band. Together they have played at many of the world’s most important reggae festivals including, Reggae Rising Festival, Bumbershoot, Sierra Nevada Festival, Lafayette Jazz Festival, Reggae on The River and many more across the U.S worldwide.
