Well established - having been recording and touring for 15 years - SOJA are bringing their conscious rootsy and passionate reggae sound to Europe with another European tour to launch the European version of their new album.
Kicking off their tour in Zurich on 3rd November, they arrived in London on the 6th to play at the O2 in Angel Islington. They then move on to play two dates in Portugal, Spain, and Germany respectively, before culminating in a performance at the One Love Festival in Poland on the 17th November.
SOJA will perform some of their new material as well as acoustic versions of their old material.
A track from their new album, entitled Nothing Ever Changes (Ft. Gentlemen) sees the septet effortlessly pair hip-hop claps and kick-drum beats with raw reggae vocals as they sing about the injustices of society. There are two versions of this song, and the second(ft. Danakil) is more folk reggae, reminiscent of old school David Rodigan.
SOJA are renowned for giving passionate performances and connecting to their audiences. Their concerts regularly receive 5/5 stars on sites such as ticketmaster.com, with one member of the crowd writing: "I have seen SOJA four times now since 2010 and 3 times in the last 6 months… I thought I knew something about this band's reach and strength… until last Saturday night… hands down best show I have seen all summer!" In fact lead singer Jacob Hemphill has stated that he prefers playing in intimate settings as it is easier to connect with the crowd.
If the reviews are anything to go by, this is sure to be a show to move the masses.
Strength to Survive (EU Deluxe Version) is available now.
