ICEBAR Review
Thursday 5th July 2012 | Osh
We headed down to ICEBAR to see what the fuss was about, and were really impressed with the service and general atmosphere. It certainly is a unique experience- the perfectly situated venue in vibrant Heddon Street is the UK’S only permanent bar made of Ice! And not just regular ice, but crystal clear Torne river ice from Northern Sweden.
On arrival you are given a coat and gloves (they actually put the coat on you) but we suggest covering up your bottom half aswell! Dresses were not the right thing to wear and we extended sympathy to the woman in sandals! You can choose from a range of cocktails and one is included in your ticket. It is a fantastic place to go with a group of friends for a day or night out, alternatively you could go as a couple, it is suitable for all ages and a wonderful place to enjoy the scenery, take photos, have a drink and chill (literally).
You also have a chance to eat from the restaurant where there is an innovative menu to choose from and a large selection of wines. The environment really is picturesque- the walls, bars, tables and even your own personal glass are made of pure ice. Every year, a team of artists and ice designers carve ice into a new theme and layout using chisels and chainsaws. You have a 40 minute session to enjoy the venue. There is only a small group of people allocated for each session, so you have plenty of space and good photo opportunities.
There is even a professional photographer at hand to make the experience more special. His name is Michal Watroba and he takes a variety of shots, telling you good angles and poses to make your photo look great. We definitely recommend ICE BAR to any fun, adventurous people who like good music, good vibes and are up for trying something new!
