Breaking Muse… Household name makes a move to dubstep in attempt to renew popularity

Friday 8th June 2012 | Osh

Formally alternative Rock, Muse have made the audacious switch to dubstep to allow the band to stay with the times as we see the world of music move towards key players like dubtsep, dance and house. They join a long list of big artists that have made the move or sampled dubstep in the past, a list that includes Britney Spears, Justin Bieber and Tinie Tempah.

The new album and sound has been met with mixed reactions from fans, who claim that they do not like the new trailer, and that dubstep “gives them a headache”. There is no doubt that the die-hard Muse fans from their first album Showbiz won’t be all that happy to see the move away from alternative. However, there was a range of positive reactions also, with fans commenting saying that the trailer is “awesome” and that they “can’t wait”. There can be no doubt in anyone’s mind when it comes to how good the trailer is. The slow building nature of the video starting with a classical sound backing a disaster struck news broadcast is effective in captivating sceptical listeners. All this before breaking down into a heavy form of bro-step with a rock influence. In fact, enough said by me, you lovely people should be checking this bad-ass video out for yourselves: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=IqFZGnfMLMw

There is no guarantee that this new style of theirs will take off in the same way tunes like Supermassive Black Hole made them a household name. Trial and error will of course be the way forward for these British Rock favourites, but we all hope that they have what it takes to aMUSE their new sound fans.
