Big Brother: A Summer Must! Wednesday 6th June 2012 | Osh It returns year after year with something a little bigger than a bang but nowhere near an earthquake. One of the most famous houses in England hosts this summer’s live entertainment. Celebrity status is taken to a new high (or low) when questionable individuals are placed in the Big Brother house. If you want to be propelled further into the world without actually doing anything worthwhile to establish yourself then get in line cause there’s already a house full of hopefuls. Last night’s live show on Channel 5 was bursting out of already ripped seams with the overwhelming sense of diversity; there are ethnical differences as well as gender and even the extremities of lifestyles that are at different ends of the wealth and public spectrum. No colour will ever be exempt from a house as famous as that of Big Brother’s. No sexual orientation or sex change will be disregarded. No posh tottie will have the chance to redeem her or his chav qualities taken from them and a teacher turned porn star is always welcome in the BB circle of attention seeking and star planning light! Not to forget the man who is going to teach us to embrace our past and use it to better our present. The House allows those shut in a stereotyped corner to embrace the limelight and not argue their case but showcase how ‘normal’ they are. Regardless of whether normality is sticking bottles up one’s frontal orifice or tanning till they steal the beauty of an orange glazed sunset. Fiesty and ferocious, this summer is going to be a maze of destruction and development and shouldn’t be missed late nights on Channel 5 at its usual regulating time of 10pm. If you’re not the type to be slightly reality TV obsessed and find yourself slightly bored out of your brains I recommend watching an episode or two to understand and grasp the fantastic and unique amusement. I’m sure this Vegas style house will host a mini Olympics and execute a number of electrifying tasks over the weeks to come. Just remember, one massive achievement for Big Brother is that it has made Channel 5 a channel that people now watch! Arti Rajput
