Mixtape Review: Let Jah Music Play (The Original Dub Mix selected by Manutension)
Thursday 10th October 2013 | Noam
Available to download digitally, on CD, or on vinyl, this mixtape offers a good selection of militant, steppas and spiritual sounds concentrated into one robust tape. It can satisfy any craving for delightful horn sections, sweet melodica, heavy bass lines and skanking beats, alongside distinctive voices and decent lyrics.
Furthermore, it brings together many of the young warriors of the dub scene, who are going to shape the musical genre for years to come. And indeed, the biggest highlight of this dubplate is that it tries to encompass, or at the least peek into, the sounds of the future, with a lot of electronic sounds and avant-gardists blends (i.e: Sitar Dub!).
I think this mixtape will be appreciated by those who already have established tastes in electronic music and are Dub-curious, as well as those who are already well into the world of Dub and are not reluctant about the evolution of the genre.
