MGMT Return With A Very Obscure New Video
Wednesday 7th August 2013 | Jamie
MGMT were the music scene's biggest new thing in 2008. The Brooklyn rockers even charted at number 16 in the Uk with indie dance anthem `Kids`. Will the indie rockers return with something more commercial or keep their psychedelic sound of their sophomore album
Their new song `Your Life Is A Lie` definitely won't be a pop hit and neither is it a psychedelic record. Its a new style that they have created that kinda takes a few listens for your ears to realise that it is actually music. Their video for the new track is like an educational video on what will happen if you drink too much red bull. There is egg smashing, a lizard coming out of someones mouth , some guy repeatedly being kicked in the head by a football and um... oh yeah some Tim Burton-esque skeletons.
It's good for a band to want to be different and come up with something fresh and exciting, however after listening to this new song you can't help miss the catchy tunes that MGMT had once produced. Its a really dull attempt to be obscure and original and instead you can't help wonder what Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser were thinking. I hope when we finally hear their third album, it will be more enjoyable then this.
See what you think of the new track.
