Rio Tashan: One & Only - Dropping on Seth Troxler's Slacker 85
A rising force in UK club music is preparing his next chapter. Rio Tashan, the London-based selector and producer, whose lineage runs deep through the UK's drum & bass scene, has announced his forthcoming single 'One & Only', set for release on Seth Troxler's celebrated imprint Slacker 85.
The release marks another milestone in what is shaping up to be a breakout year for the young talent, following his 2026 debut single and a remix for Slacker 85 that first caught Troxler's ear. On how the record came together: “This record came together surprisingly quickly. After finishing my remix for the compilation, I found myself falling in love with creating music that nods to the sound of the '80s, while giving it a modern edge that still feels right at home in the club.”
At the heart of the track is a sample of Teena Marie's classic 'Lovergirl', a vocal Rio had held onto for years before it found its perfect home. “The vocal from Teena Marie's 'Lovergirl' was actually something I'd had sitting in my sample bank for ages, and as soon as I started digging for vocals, it instantly came to mind.”
What happened next turned into one of those rare full-circle moments in music. Rio sent the record to Seth Troxler simply hoping for a spin, and got far more than he bargained for. “I sent it over to Seth just thinking he'd give it a play, but instead he came straight back saying he wanted to sign it and then told me 'Lovergirl' was his mum's favourite jam. I couldn't believe it. It's one of those moments that felt meant to be, and now the record is coming out on one of my favourite labels. It still doesn't quite feel real.”
The release lands as part of a breakout run for Rio, who released his first single of 2026 alongside Kosmo Kint on Y.O.U.R.S. in April, before following up with a remix of Addy Weitzman on Slacker 85. 'One & Only' arrives as his summer statement, tipped by DJs across the scene as one of the season's essential records.
Upcoming gig highlights include Sankeys Manchester, Hideout and Appetite On The Farm, PIV Ibiza, Glitterbox, UNVRS, Defected Croatia , Hi Ibiza, Hidden Manchester and Koko London. These sit alongside dates for Rio's own imprint and party brand, Expressions, which launched with a nine-date UK tour taking in Room 3 at fabric London, The Love Inn, Sneaky Pete's, Gonzo's, Stealth and more, with guests including Eats Everything and Ewan McVicar.
