It has been a year since the iconic musician’s tragic passing from an 18 month battle with cancer.
On the first anniversary of his death, thousands of Londoners paid tribute to the Brixton-born singer through a mixture of events.
Posts and tributes by Bowie's friends and musicians flooded social media as they expressed their never-ending love and admiration for the singer. The list includes, Sir Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Madonna, Pharrell Williams, Iggy Pop and many more.
Iman Bowie
On the 8th January, what would have been Bowie’s 70th Birthday, Iman paid tribute to her husband of over two decades. Posting on Twitter a beautiful sketch of Bowie as a child and sporting the infamous Ziggy Stardust Lightning Bolt. Accompanying the drawing is the message ‘8th #ForeverLove #BowieForever.’
London
Hundreds of fans attended the mural in Brixton on the anniversary date, paying their respects leaving tributes. Meanwhile in Brixton’s Ritzy Cinema a one off viewing took place, showing three of Bowie’s short films, including ‘The Image’ were shown.
Picturehouse Cinemas across the country followed suit, also hosting special one off viewings of Bowie's cinematic work.
