Caspa's 500: music for basements, not stadiums

500 is Caspa’s latest album and sees him return to his older, and arguably more popular sound. It's been two years since his last album Alpha Omega and in that time the dubstep don has taken stock and made an album "to fill basements", not stadiums.
So that is exactly what Caspa has done - harsh, unadulterated wobs and dirty basslines that he and the Dub Police crew smashed the clubbing scene with almost a decade ago. By taking one step back he has taken many forward, injecting a new lease of life into what many say is a dying genre. He has taken things back to the core; no mainstream appeal, no commercially popular artist featured just deep bassed beats.
Reviving the old spirit of dubstep, 500 has recaptured the old vibe from himself and others from his acclaimed Dub Police label. 'Drum Stick Lick' featuring Beenie Man, Klashnekoff and Spyda MC, 'Submission' and 'Mad Man' featuring Riko are quite roots based with the prolonged bass rattling you through. He's on a more aggressive tip on tracks like 'Derek', 'Foundation Dub' and 'War Drum' also featuring Spyder MC; they are the undiluted basement bangers Caspa aimed to produce.
Caspa has made a triumphant return. By looking back at his roots and being selfish in his productions he has created a body of work that makes serious case for a sort of dubstep revival.
