TOYS - Parisians Paul Prier and Bastien Doremus - was born in a Paris studio that has become the band’s second home. The pair has worked tirelessly for two years, touching up their style to produce energetic electronica bathed in hip-hop and house. The electronic duo showcase their sound with EP Golden Line, out on Fairtrack/Caroline.
Having already built an impressive portfolio, remixing for artists such as Two Door Cinema Club, Breton, Lescop, and François & the Atlas Mountains, TOYS have also had success in their own right – their single ‘Noise’ opened Kitsuné’s Parisien 3 compilation, and ‘Hey Boy’ was highly praised by Dummy.
Visuals are also a strong focus for TOYS. The ‘Hey Boy’ video showcased an urban slice of New York City subcultures, and the video for title track ‘Golden Line’, directed by award-winning filmmaker Vladimir de Fontenay, follows a boy’s quest for identity.
As well as releasing their EP, TOYS continue to work with a wide range of artists. They recently toured as the backing band for Christine and the Queens, and remixes of the EP tracks are set to come from Breton. With such a broad selection of projects on the go, expect to hear a lot more from TOYS throughout 2015.
