The queen of flamenco, Buika will make you look at misery differently.

Other | Monday 27th April 2015 | Serena

You may not have heard of Buika, why would you, you don't understand Spanish right? Sometimes the feeling of song will take over

beyond its words - Grammy award winning Concha Buika encompasses soul that is rarely seen on screen and has to be experienced to understand.

If you're the artsy type you may have seen her in the smash hit foreign film La piel que habito starring Antonio Banderas as a traumatised plastic surgeon that kidnaps... I won't ruin the film for you, just watch it. In one scene, Buika shows her diversity in flamenco, Spanish copla, jazz and soul in about two minutes, it's mind blowing. From infectious rhythmic singing to the emotional sounds that all jazz artists possess.

In an interview when asked about the emotions that she goes through during a show, she said "I don't believe in sadness, When I cry, I have fun, we all need emotion." She also goes on to say "Out of your biggest fears can come creation." With a heart that rings true to her music, it is difficult not to love her. I don’t understand a word of Spanish but I would follow her anywhere.
