'Pussy Quiot'
Friday 22nd February 2013 | Antonia
Mass press-coverage was given last summer to three of the arrested bright-balaclava; Putin-pilfering members of ‘Punk/Protest-Art’ band Pussy Riot. Now more information has seeped out from Russia and it’s been reported that one member Nadezhda, has been hospitalised.
Pardon one member of the arrestees, two were sent to notorious Russian work camps in Perm and Mordovia, each separated. With the media kicking up a storm in the West, our neighbours in the East seem less sympathetic. Arrested for public misdemeanour and disturbing the peace (they set off a smoke bomb in the middle of town during a ‘concert’) it is quite possible that Nadezha may in fact die in prison. With Putin’s parliamentary politicians once pressing for maximum charges, the pair may have gotten off easy even though each camp has an equally infamous reputation, primarily for their lack of privacy, rate of assault by prison guards and limited nourishment.
Many believe Nadezha should not die ‘a martyr’. What do you think? If you agree why not sign the petition?
