Here’s a date for next year’s diary (if we manage to survive the ever looming threat of apocalypse, thanks to the ending of the Mayan calendar this month!). Saturday 12th January witnesses Purple’s return to InSpiral Lounge for another charity night packed with diverse DJ sets.
Flying under the Purple flag are a host of DJs, each with their own influences and styles, that deliver hard hitting sets in their specialised genres. The last InSpiral outing for the Purple people in August was the epitome of diverse, with sets in the following styles: hip-hop, dubstep, DnB, house, and glitch-hop. Their return will encompass these same sounds with the core of Purple faithful back for another performance (Ekim, Baxter, and Dan-de-lion). However, January’s offering will also include a few new faces such as Acidic Records’ Wingnut.
The Purple event is a charity evening – just like Hakuna Skankata from August. All proceeds will go to Centrepoint, a charity that assists over 1,000 homeless young people, between the ages of 16-25, a year. There will be a Snazzy Stuff stall selling products made with ‘earth friendly’ materials at the venue, although entry into the gig will not cost you a penny. As their InSpiral advert reads: ‘Entry is FREE, donations encouraged and dancing mandatory.’
Set list is as follows:
Ekim (Purple) - Fresh from warming up Wonderland, getting things going with old-school blues and hip-hop.
