Modern Panic Tests your morals and your stomach

Thursday 22nd November 2012 | Laura

The exhibition, Curated by James Elphick of Guerrilla Zoo, will take place from 24th November to 2d December at Apiary Studios.

The 3d edition of Modern Panic, which features over 50 artists, it’s all about provocations. It really challenges the term ‘art’ making really difficult to relate it to what we are accustomed to. For some, the name of the exhibition will really reflect how it might make them feel. For those who are used to live images, like those of Damien Hirst, will find it amusing and interesting- whatever the reaction, it certainly is provocative. The images of pigs and humans ‘getting together’, if you know what I mean, or new species of animals created by taxidermy and forming a sentence won’t leave anyone indifferent. Everyone can judge for themselves depending on their concept of art.

The Modern Panic artistic movement began with Fernando Arrabal and Alejandro Jodorowsky and comes to our days in many shapes, colours and components. For example, portraits made with coca leaves, like the one of Mick Jagger stating that he wouldn’t be where he is if he hadn’t taken so much cocaine. This edition features live body art, Prisoner Charles Bronson's artwork from his new book, ' Born Again Artist' and Lady Gaga and Bat For Lashes stylist Natasha Lawes’ artwork. Do not miss out on the exclusive première of the mind altering ‘Dreamachine’ installation designed by William S Burroughs & Brion Gysin, which was used by Kurt Cobain 48 hours before his death.
