Spotlight: Cropper
Saturday 20th October 2012 | Tom
Niall Cropper aka Cropper is an up and coming house producer who first came to the music fore when he was studying music technology down in Bristol. Originally from London, he now splits his time between the two, and the influence of these two great cities can definitely be heard in his releases. Track ‘Broken’ taken from his E.P. of the same name (released on I Love To Sleep At Night Records) is driven by the heavy bass sound that is synonymous with the Bristol music scene, whilst track ‘Blessing’ adopts more of a garage vibe, a sound associated more with music coming from the capital. Cropper is surely destined for big things with Huxley being one of a few DJs to have shown an interest in his music. He is a resident at the Trix night which takes place at Hidden in London, with Cropper having shared the decks with names such as Mosca, Loefah, George Fitzgerald and Boddika. He has also recently DJed at festivals including Dimensions, Secret Garden Party and Echo. Cropper’s new track ‘Deeper’ is forthcoming on Blah Blah Blah records and incorporates a great driving bassline with a Jamiroquai sample thrown in as well and is surely a track that will continue to ensure that this fresh, talented producer goes from strength to strength.
