Although reggae music originated in Jamaica, not every reggae sound produced is from the island.
Junior C is representing the sound from Argentina and has a lot to offer with a new sound blooming. Soulful reggae tunes teamed with a smooth voice signify this vocalist and with just a few responses, we understand his sound a little bit more...
How long have you been on the music scene for?
I started my first band in 2000. In 2005, I joined a popular reggae band called Mensajeros Reggae as a singer. In 2010 I left the band to start my solo career.
What artists have you worked with? How have they influenced you?
As a singer in Mensajeros Reggae, I was proud to work with Akila Barret. He taught me some tips about the essence of reggae music and I have applied that to my own music since.
I have also played in huge festivals in my country as a singer for Mensajeros Reggae.
What other influences are there on your music?
I love reggae and soul, blues and funk, I mean; I put that feeling in my music.
Have you had any singles/ albums out? Are you currently working on any?
In the time I was singing in Mensajeros I recorded many songs that I am putting on a promotional EP which I’ll release very soon. Right now, I am working with a new band composing new songs for the new album we´ll record this month if God is on our side.
Who are your musical influences?
I am influenced by Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor, Bob Marley, Frankie Paul and many others reggae artists and producers. I love the sound of ‘70s, ‘80s and ’90s but at same time, I am also influenced by the old school soul/ Philadelphia sound.
What message are you trying to send to your fans through your sound?
Love, understanding, unity, faith, peace... they are the key.
The artist/ group you’d most like to work with?
I´d love to work with Alborosie, Bunny Rugs from Third World Band... and many others.
