In anticipation of his forthcoming album ‘Mystrogen’, the UK’s finest lyricist-cum-comedian Mystro returns with the free EP ‘What Type of Drug Is Mystrogen?’. Featuring four tracks and five skits, you can see that Mystro values the comic side of his music as highly as the lyrics themselves and maybe we could see him doing a Doc Brown at a later stage in his career.
Laid-back productions by Twisted Roots, Black Einstein, Mark de Clive-Lowe and DJ Thor compliment Mystro’s casual flow fittingly, a flow that makes him one of the most listenable voices in UK hip hop. Sounding so comfortable on the beat, the EP is another mature offering of free music that sets us up nicely for the album. Lamb’s Bread is the stand-out track with its simple yet effective doctoring of a strings sample. Cop it!
