R’n’B singer Frank Ocean hasn’t exactly got the hardest reputation, although, he did get into minor collision with Chris Brown in a car park. Ocean doesn’t seem to have the desire to portray himself as a gangster either, but in his interview in Oyster Magazine’s latest issue he confesses that he was a high school rebel, apparently selling crack and cocaine.
Ocean engulfs the cover of the magazine with a striking black and white portrait in, but the interview reveals his dark days as a young kid amongst a rough crowd. The “Pyramids” singer’s revelation proves that he isn’t a push over but equally suggests that he was less than angelic. During his interview, Ocean was very candid about his past saying “i was a thug” and sold drugs “all the time” and states that his only escape was his passion for music and song writing.
Clearly, his fantasy of becoming a successful singer/songwriter has saved him from potentially becoming a drug lord. Now he is set to make his live return at OFWGKTA Carnival in LA which he will co-headline with his fellow Odd Future member Tyler, The Creator. This will be his first live performance since he was forced to cut short his Australian tour in July due to tearing his vocal cords.
