The gritty yet beautiful voice of Aisha Badu has had 30 million, and counting, Spotify streams so far. As an artist who lyrics mirror the real-life emotions of heartbreak along and the pain of the world, all mixed with enticing melodies and haunting rhythms, Aisha is the singer-songwriter we desperately need in this modern day.
Having just released Splintered from her new album, Pendulum, New York based Badru says “I hope Pendulum opens a window that allows my listeners to see how the dark and light aspects of life forms a marriage that serves as a catalyst that initiates tremendous growth.”
The single is juxtaposed with a video of a woman dancing in the low light of the evening mixed with video footage of people in times of peace during the civil unrest of 1960’s America. All creating a montage to reflect her deep and meaningful lyrics. Splintered is ultimately a song about taking control of our own lives in a world that we think is wrecked, where as it is the people on it that are the real broken ones.
