What's Going On With Daft Punk?

Nile Rodgers claims Daft Punk are to release a new single in August
The enigmatic, inimitable and disgustingly popular Parisian duo is definitely up to something. For a while this could have been put down the kind of conjecture typical of the gossip-driven sewing circle that is music blogging. However a sequence of recent (and interestingly timed) events can no longer go ignored.
For those of you late to the performance this is what has happened so far:
On 5th June the band were seen posing at Park Avenue in Manhattan for a photoshoot with model Karlie Kloss. The pair had suited up, apparently having chosen to ditch the glammy Random Access Memories sequin-style outfits. The rumour mill churned out all kinds of theories explaining the shoot, ranging from fashion commercial to music video.
More recently, Chic Guitarist, Random Access memories collaborator and general shit stirrer Nile Rodgers quelled rumours via his blog that Daft Punk would be joining him at his New York show in August. However he then proceeded to ‘let slip’ that they would be releasing a new single around the same time. Rodgers blogged : "There’s going to be me, my band CHIC, and some of the hottest acts and surprises on the planet that day... which happens to be around the time the next Daft Punk single drops (I’m just saying),".
Having released the highest grossing album of 2013 as well as starting up in the contraceptive industry the French house duo has had a busy year. That said, whilst another big release might be a hope too far, August will certainly be a time to keep an eye on Daft Punk.
