Unstoppable: The Roots of Hip Hop in London is the brain child of hip hop enthusiast and publisher, Giuseppe Pipitone and creative filmmaker, Lidia Ravviso. Telling untold stories in 52 minutes and documenting the birth of UK hip hop from 1979 to 1988, the documentary features Family Quest, MC Mello, Rodney P, DJ Fingers, Dave Cash C and many more central UK hip hop figures.
From breakdancing to graffiti, many of us know hip hop and the hip hop culture was born in the Bronx, raised in Brooklyn and quickly spread from borough to borough; but how did it cross the pond and reside here in London?
Covent Garden, now known for its luxury shops and restaurants, was once a place where hip hop lovers would unite and hip hop was stamped all over its cobbled streets. But what happened with hip hop in those first few years of being in London?
‘Unstoppable, young, stupid and energised’, the documentary reveals exclusive footage from the people who lived and breathed the early stages of hip hop in London. In order for the documentary to stay alive and this story to be told the team need to raise money for the costs of production. With only 17 days left, if this is something you would like to not only be a part of, but potentially also gain associate producer rights you can donate here: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/unstoppable-the-roots-of-hip-hop-in-london?c=home.
