All hail King Krule

Known to most as King Krule, Archy Ivan Marshall is the cool kid of modern indie rock. If James Blake and Jamie T had a baby – King Krule would be the lovechild.
Notoriously picky with collaborations – and rightfully so – the singer-songwriter even turned down an opportunity to work with Kanye West in 2013. Yet despite catching the eye of some of the industries biggest names, King Krule is seemingly never one to bask in his recognition.
His debut full-length album released in 2013, 6 Feet Beneath The Moon, was an astounding success with both fans and critics alike. The South London born singer returned in 2015 under the alias Edgar the Beatmaker when producing Earl Sweatshirt’s hip-hop track 'Death Whistles'.
Rumours teased earlier this year of a collaboration between the indie cool kid and Frank Ocean, which was unfortunately scrapped before public release. But Marshall was back with more magic this August, releasing his 19-track album The OOZ. A similar dense, grungy and somewhat romantic sound that’s matured since 6 Feet Beneath The Moon.
The OOZ takes the listener on a journey of genres, telling tales of loneliness and depression, the album is emotional and raw as ever in true King Krule style. Rich, complex and mysterious, most tracks sound as if they were conceptualised in a hazy half-dream.
In the industry today, Marshall’s rooted sense of individuality and unwavering commitment to keeping his sound original is refreshing, to say the least.
Currently touring Europe, 2017/18 is set to be a busy year for Marshall. Find out more about dates and venues here.
