The power of gratitude Other | Friday 27th October 2017 | Annalisa gratitude happiness Gratitude isn’t just a feeling, it’s a tool. Many studies over the past ten years have found that people who consciously count their blessings tend to be happier and less depressed. By consistently re-focusing on all the amazing things you have in your life, no matter how big or small (it could be a really good breakfast!), it trains your brain to focus on the positive. When you feel happy, the central nervous system is affected. You're more peaceful, less reactive and less resistant and gratitude is one of the most effective ways of stimulating happiness. Consistently look for the positive in every situation and positive outcomes will follow. You can get more out of your days, weeks and years. Give it a go yourself. Think of five things you're grateful for every day and why. Write them down if you want to. Or try telling someone close to you something you appreciate about them.
