Young talent is a recurrent feature in the music industry of today; however, there is one young woman who is taking indie music by storm! Welcome Thelma Plum!
Thelma Plum from Brisbane Australia possesses one of the most stunning voices that I have come across! A sweet, charming, and an affectionate vocalist, Plum generates her great voice alongside lyrics and instrumentals that are range from being fun, interesting, and untamed, to songs that are slow, poignant, and really show off Plum’s potential as an artist. She was introduced to music early on in her life by her grandparents, as she noted:
“My grandfather would play guitar and harmonica and I would play along with him on piano. He would play me music by Slim Dusty, Hank Williams, and Paul Kelley. That made a huge difference t me as a young person listening to these artists who were great story tellers.”
Plum established herself as the winner Australia’s Triple J Unearthed competition at only 17 years old, and consequently nominated for the Best New Talent in Music at the Deadly Awards in Australia. After her astonishing track ‘Father Said’, now at 18, Plum has released her first studio album Rosie. Likened to Lisa Mitchell, Sarah Blasko, and Laura Marling, Plum is the newest amiable talent in the girl-power of indie music! Each track off Rosie is awesomely poignant!
Check out ‘Around Here’, a great track off Thelma Plum’s latest album, Rosie, right here. Enjoy!
