One of the most talented house music acts to come out of Spain in recent years has just dropped his new EP, titled Space and form!
Pablo Bolivar has returned to the highly revered Berlin label Moodmusic Records and this new EP certainly reaches the labels exceptionally high standards.
The three-track offering takes you on a very interesting journey, channelling three very different kinds of electronic music. ‘Otherwise’ kicks things off!
The deeply melodic track uses a very powerful baseline and hypnotic synths. At seven minutes long this track is a marathon rather than a sprint, which by all means I mean as a compliment. Without the incredible percussion, the track would become a bit of a drag but the tune is really brought together insanely well.
The second track is named ‘Vanished’ and frames itself around trippy techno melodies. Again the melodic synths are a mainstay throughout the track. The trance feel is incredibly clear but with the inclusion of the progressive chord stabs it keeps the track from sounding like a pre-2010 production.
To finish things off we have the title track ‘Space and Form’, a lot smoother than the other tracks on the record. Relaxed beats and warmer sounds carry you through this last track and is a fitting end giving the more intense nature of the first two!
All in all, this is a very powerful release that showcases the Spaniard at his very best. All tracks are packed full of detail and have a unique quality about them. The culmination of different genres throughout makes it an EP of contrast showcasing Pablo's ability to evoke different moods and levels of intensity.
‘Space & Form’ EP is available exclusively via Beatport from May 19th and the rest of the world two weeks later.
