Listen: Sampha – Without

I bet he thought the day would never come the R&B collaborating veteran has finally landed himself an independent release on Young Turks Records. Sampha has wowed the music blogosphere with his talent for too long, working with the likes of Jessie Ware, SBTRKT and most recently an impressive spot on Drake’s latest song ‘The Motion’. The EP named Dual is scheduled for release on 29th July showcasing five new songs including the track ‘Without’ which you can stream below. The track's title is a statement that he can do it “without” other people, in an attempt to brush off the connection of him with other artists, this delicate song definitely croons himself as having his own independent talent.
The track itself does not disappoint, the glossy synths compliment Sampha’s soft vocals whilst jittery guitars add a sense of summer to the song. This laidback jam is sure to impress those who have not heard of him and those that have will find a new gained respect for his solo effort. Sampha has shown he can work with artists but this track shows he can be even better without.
