Review: Stereophonics @ Under the bridge

Thursday 4th July 2013 | Danielle

I think its fair to say Stereophonics are old school and when first turning up to the gig i was worried i was going to be the youngest there. Since releasing their new album Graffiti on a train its fair to say they have grabbed massive attention from a younger generation again. There one of the only few bands me and my mother share in common. The gig was hosted by XFM in aid of the charity War Child, and the only possible way to get in was to either win tickets or get on the guest list. It was held in the huge Chelsea stadium on June 17th but in a tiny compact underground pub under the stadium which could hold about 300 people. It couldn't get much more intimate with Kelly Jones. They started the night with their first song "Catacomb" from the new album, whilst continuing to play some of the legendary songs like "Have a nice day" and "Superman", it reminded me how much i loved the Stereophoics boys. The drinks where flowing, the crowd where buzzing whilst the boys continued to entertain us with good music and reminiscing of good times. Finishing up with "Dakota" the atmosphere by the end of the night was booming with lighters in the air and everybody in the room was almost in sync with Kelly Jones sweet voice. Although it may seem hard to ever fall out of love with Kelly Jones its fair to say seeing the boys again defiantly rekindled my love for them and in such a tiny space it was not only a beautiful sight but a brilliant night. It's heard that the boys after every gig have a piss up in their changing rooms to celebrate the rest of the night. So I hope your heads weren't too banging the next day boys!
