2Bears get involved with Macmillan Cancer Support

House | Wednesday 11th January 2017 | Cristina

The 2Bears, the electronic dance music group composed of Joe Goddard of Hot Chip and Raf Rundell of 1965 records, have got a track out in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. All proceeds from downloads of the record go towards the charity since events and ticketing company Skiddle approached the duo following the death of Skiddle staff member Chris Glaba due to cancer.

Glaba’s favourite song was ‘Church’ by 2Bears and Skiddle asked the duo if they could start raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support via the track. Skiddle have started promoting the track, campaigning for it to chart to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. They aim to raise £100,000.

The 2Bears’ latest LP, The Night is Young, is soft and friendly pop-house with gentle lyricism and organic, British-sounding vocals which soothe the decadence of club culture. Some of the album was recorded in South Africa, which has given some of the synths a tropical house twist whilst most of it flaunts soulful brass which gives the LP a northern soul sound.

Rundell and Goddard have come a long way from their debut 2012 LP and sound more confident than ever on record and on tour.

2Bears are on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud.
