The Frightnrs' new album is sounding right

Reggae | Wednesday 21st September 2016 | Annalisa

The Frightnrs
'
 first full length LP
, Nothing Left To Say,
 for Daptone Reco
rds,
 is a
testament

to the fact that the classic sound of Jamaican Rocksteady, can

speak to a new generation.
Released on 2nd September, the LP is something seriously smooth.

Jamaican Rocksteady appeared in Jamiaca in 1967 and by the late 1968 had already almost petered out despite having created some of the greatest Jamaican music ever. The Fightnrs set out with Daptone to create a full length Rocksteady LP. The result is a collection of some of the most beautiful and complex songs they have ever done.

The creativity of lead singer, Dan Klein, is clear throughout and is all the more powerful following his death in June 2016 after being diagnosed with ALS last year.

Nothing More To Say is a stand out track on the album with an easy vibe that sounds right and the two soul covers Bob & Gene’s Gotta Find a Way and Saun and Starr’s Gonna Make Time provide a change of vibe that makes this album connect with people on a wider level.
