A Look into M.I.A’s New Video “Bring the Noize”
This week saw the release of M.I.A’s new music video for her single ‘Bring the Noize’ and it’s so epic she brought two versions. Echoing her usual motifs, M.I.A’s visuals explore timeless eastern symbols and sounds with contemporary political and personal messages. This clash is respective to her sound as ‘Bring the Noize’ isn’t a piece to ease the heart but a message to harass the soul, which alludes to much of her personality and identity. M.I.A’s aggressive beats never fail to make an impression on the listener nor does her Matangi Gold Version of the video. Releasing a day later than the original video, the Matangi Gold Version replicates the exact video but submerged in gold, suggesting maybe that our global world will soon be submerged the same. With M.I.A’s eternal symbol of “Om” reoccurring in her video as well as her bright pink hair, she’s definitely an artist who never falls short of a myriad of messages and perspectives- wrapped into one big mess.
