Terry Palamara grew up between Egypt and the South of Italy. Born to a musician and painter, Terry spent most of her life surrounded by the sound of blues and the smell of white spirit.
After dedicating several years to photography, Terry has more recently discovered a fresh release of passion in painting. In her works oil, acrylic, tempera, and sometimes even her own tears can be found!
‘One, No One and One Hundred Thousand’ presented by DSArts, curated by Maya Mihoc, brings together 15 works of a project aimed at exorcising fears and inner demons of our generation.
Terry Palamara’s paintings are a collection of portraits including self portraits seen through the vision of Terry herself . The portraits reflect sad-eyed restless faces and anxious minds dealing with self perception and the madness within.
“Do others see us the way we see ourselves? Do they see all the different selves and personas we often try to hide?
Can they see our fears and our harrowed hyperawareness?”
‘One, No One and One Hundred Thousand’ is a tribute to Nobel Prize Luigi Pirandello’s novel of the same name, published in 1926. The novel’s theme is the multiplicity of the identities of the human beings, and the masks we might have to exploit.
The exhibition opens to the public from 6pm Thursday 18th February at DSArts, Dalston, and will run until the 22nd February 2016.
