Death Cab for Brixton

Indie | Friday 23rd October 2015 | Cais

Although I could have sworn I saw a crowd of eager fans lining up outside the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire as recent as June to get their fix, we’re pleased to announce the return of Washington-based alt rock legends Death Cab for Cutie to London on 4th November at O2 Academy Brixton in support of their new album, Kintsugi.

Death Cab for Cutie holds a special place in the hearts, (often broken hearts) of legions of alternative rock fans that came of age in the 2010’s. While there are those who claim they were into the band before they struck it big with their 2003 album Transatlanticism with hits like Sound of Settling and Death of an Interior Decorator, this was the album when the rest of us got into this band and quickly made them one of our car stereo and touring favourites.

Although I’ve had their records first floating around in my CD binder and later my itunes playlist for over a decade now, I’ve never quite managed to make it out to one of their gigs. In the early days it was because I couldn’t drive, now I’ve got responsibilities but at the same time, no good excuses. In short, it’s about fucking time.

As their sound has matured and song-writing skills sharpened over the years, Death Cab is slowly but surely turning into a band that may well come to define the alt/indie/emo rock genre and I need to see them before they decide to go out on top.

Tickets are on sale now and going quickly for their second European tour of 2015 as well as their London gig at O2 Academy Brixton on 4th November.
