The Southbank Centre is getting ready for the much anticipated Meltdown Festival.
The line-up announcement has been much anticipated because of David Byrne's role as director. The Talking Heads co-founder is also an author, producer and photographer and his line-up features a range of various musical genres from folk to afro-funk as well as theatre and dance. He will be part of the line-up too, performing along with the actor and director Young Jean Lee.
The festival runs from 17th to 30th August and it will include Anna Calvi performing an intimate show at Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Italian folk singer Carmen Consoli performing at Royal Festival Hall, the African funk music of William Onyeabor, and many more interesting and engaging artists from all over the world.
There will be also a special event presenting the Academy Award-winning film There Will Be Blood directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The movie will be accompanied by a live orchestral performance of Jonny Greenwood's score involving over 50 musicians.
