Hein Cooper releases 'Art Of Escape' (Magical Mistakes remix)

Magical Mistakes (a.k.a Erik Luebs) is a Californian musician who currently resides in Osaka, Japan. Following the path of other artists like Bon Iver, Magical Mistakes moved to Shiba-san, one of Japan’s most rural villages, to create his sound. Here he was able to draw inspiration from his environment and also from the lineage of contemplative beats crafted by the vibrant community of Osaka artists, such as Shlohmo and Mount Kimbie.
It’s clear when listening to Magical Mistakes that his style strives to combine Eastern and Western influences. His tracks are textural, bell-bathed, slow slung electronic compositions blended with organic instrumentation, Japanese motifs, and ambient sounds, that create an immersive underwater effect. Luebs has already seen support from Noisey, XLR8R, The Line Of Best Fit ++ and continues to be praised by tastemakers around the world.
Hein Cooper is an Australian indie musician from New South Wales, who after being discovered in small bar in Sydney by Franz Shuller (Half Moon Run) is now signed to Indica Records and is turning heads globally. The Art of Escape is the debut track from Cooper’s self-titled EP which was recorded with Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, The National, Local Natives, Hey Rosetta) and has been featured on FACT Magazine, Tone Deaf, and Exclaim since its release.
When talking about his debut, Cooper said: "It is a call to all of the wonderful displaced beings I have found in my life and more broadly everybody who feels alone in their own idealistic dreaming”, and Magical Mistakes interpretation doesn’t steer you away from that message. Dark, playful with an undeniably woozy undertone, this version evokes a sense of adventure. Cooper’s wavering falsetto vocals emerge from beneath the endless layers and textures; each chiseled musical element expertly crafted. The union between the two makes for something totally beautiful and will have you noticing something different with every listen.
