Cassie and her comeback of the century.

Cassie tries to do a Brandy on us and makes a musical comeback dropping her hot new mixtape #RockaByeBaby on the scene. In an interview with XXL, she mentions that the mixtape title has a New Jack City influence as she feels as though this reflects her ‘bad bitch’ side. This NJC influence is apparent throughout the mixtape as we hear audio samples from the movie including Keisha’s legendary phrase “Rock- a-bye-Baby!” Cassie’s bad-bitchness is depicted in her lyrics, but this is emphasised in her ‘Bad Bitchs’ track with Ester Dean “A bad bitch like me will have a nigga screamin” It’s fair to say that the Hip Hop princess is definitely trying to leave her mark.
Cassie’s come back to the scene with full effect recruiting members like fellow Bad Boy label mate French Montana, and a few more of the finest including Fabulous, Meek Mill and Too Short just to name a few. Nine out of the thirteen songs are collaborations with rappers, but the half-shaven idol also shows off her romantic side in the slow jam ‘Sound of Love’ ft Jeremih. With songs like ‘Take Care of Me Baby’ produced by Mike Will Made it and ‘Turn Up’ produced by Young Chop, the 38 minute piece of art is filled with strong, spacey beats (courtesy of being the wifey of the top producer Diddy) combined with Cassie’s soft, relaxed vocals. In other words, there’s a lot more Me and You’s and with bangers like ‘Numb’ co-starring Rick Ross (my favourite), this mixtape is due to make long lasting impressions.
