Is Garage back?

The title isn't really fair, for some of us - myself included - Garage never went away. Part of my heart is locked away in the 90s and early 00s in a dark room listening to Zed Bias (before the dubstep), Sticky and Alias. If we're talking charts though, Garage died a while ago. There were some awful attempts to bring it back (Babycakes, anyone?) - but the genre itself just disappeared from public psyche.
I've been paying attention to the charts though recently, and Garage seems to be sneaking back in one form or another. It sounds more like the House & Garage vibe where the music all started - but the sound is definitely there. Tracks like Disclosure's 'White Noise' are taking the charts by storm - and that track doesn't even pretend to be anything but Garage.
Sometimes we get a little trickle through another genre too. Who remembers "Bassline House"? It was Garage with a more modern-friendly name. More recently we have Deep House - something that has been around a long time but is starting to pick up some real love right now. Who can deny that distinct 4/4 flavour in some of the tracks right now? I dare any Garage lover to listen to Leftwing & Kody's 'You were' and not feel that four-to-the-floor vibe. So what next?
I hope some of the younger generation get out there and seek out some Garage - the real stuff! There are nights left right and centre - with two giants this Saturday (check the Guestlist listings). Listen to EZ on Kiss, trawl through Youtube. If you missed Garage the first time round but love the vibe you hear in the tracks doing the rounds now - get into the old stuff. It'll make you feel good, good, good.
