JAWS - The Next Big Thing?
Thursday 21st February 2013 | Fiona
JAWS are one of the latest bands to emerge from B-Town, or as it’s more commonly known, Birmingham. They’re following in the footsteps of other up-and-coming bands from the Digbeth scene, like PEACE and Swim Deep.
Huw Stephens recently played they’re newest single “Friend Like You” on his show on BBC Radio 1, which is available digitally from 1st April via Rattlepop, and their forthcoming EP “Milkshake” will be available on iTunes from 22nd April. Only yesterday the West Midlands foursome recorded a live session at the ever famous Madia Vale studios, so it looks like the only way is up for the laid back, surf sounds of this Birmingham based band. The boys are also booked to play at this year’s Bestival in September, which is celebrating its 10th year, so look out for them there.
It’s all flat peaks, vans, and baggy T-Shirts as far as these guys are concerned, but I’m down for that. They’ve got a somewhat tropical sound about them, so you can imagine yourself chilling out on a beach somewhere hot, while listening to them on park bench somewhere in jolly old, cold, London.
Give them a listen and see what you think for yourself. Still, I have no doubt that these laid back tunes will be making their way on to your iTunes playlists very soon.
