Hot hot hot upcoming Gig - M83 are playing on 8th of November in O2 Academy in Brixton!!!
Don't miss your chance to see these French music wizards. Whether you're so obsessed with them that your terrible renditions of their tunes in the shower are a daily ritual or if you've never heard of them and you thought I was referring to some strange army aeroplane, you should definitely see them live. Judging by their former concerts, this electro-shoegazer band is preparing a proper music treat that will only make you love them more.
Although they started rocking way back in 2001, they've only been recently achieved global recognition with the big success of their last album "Hurry up, We are Dreaming". Minimalistic yet intriguing, their name comes from the spiral galaxy Messier 83, which is appropriate for their futuristic and surrealist sound.
The first time I listened to them, I had been feeling a bit down... It was one of those 'no job no money' crap situations... but after the last note of their song 'Midnight City' I was empowered by the overwhelming positive energy and inspired by their quirkiness and their upbeat harmonic sound. I got the strength to say "f.ck you world, the next round is mine!". Their sound is unique,dreamy,rich in emotions, with a taste of music epicness set for exploring. M83's style is influenced by a subgenre of alternative rock called Shoegaze, which is evident in its recurrent use of reverb effects and lyrics spoken softly over loud instrumentals.
Enough said,just come to the gig and prepare to be thrilled!!See you there!
