Eton boys rework 'Gangnam Style'

The no. 1 hit from Korean singer Psy has been remade with a little British flair.
‘Gangnam Style’ was, for reasons unknown to me, a huge success. It reached no. 1 in multiple countries including the UK. It seemed as though everyone was in love with the song. I, on the other hand was hoping the song by Psy would peak and then swiftly be forgotten, never to be resurfaced. This was not the case.
Many celebrities have been seen practicing the ‘Gangnam Style’ dance routine with Boris Johnson revealing he and Prime Minister David Cameron performed it at the latter’s country retreat. The newest addition to this phase has in fact come from a group of Eton college boys who have made a parody of the song. The video, which was shot on location at the £32,000-a-year college, has already become a huge success, gaining 22,000 hits in one day.
Having read all this in the Metro this morning, I was curious, regrettably, to find out what the fuss was about. Much like the reworking of Nick Clegg’s apology, I was surprised to find it was not as grating as I had anticipated, and actually enjoyed watching it.
What was appealing about this song is hard to tell, but I’m sure the lyrics which include poking fun the Eton boys, have something to do with it. The song varies from talking about the Olympics to feeling awkward, lonely and a fear of approaching women. It was these moments which expressed feelings that I couldn’t help smiling at whether they are true or not. Education, it seems, cannot teach you everything.
