The Haunted Man - Bat For Lashes' Stark (Naked) New Album
Friday 5th October 2012 | Sophie
Natasha Khan, better known by her stage name Bat for Lashes, releases her third and eagerly anticipated album, The Haunted Man on October 15th. Khan has been working on the album for a grand total of three years, and word of its looming release is music to the ears of fans worldwide.
A true musician, Khan penned all her own lyrics, as well as composing and producing all the songs on her previous two albums, Fur and Gold and Two Suns. Her new album is no exception. The sublime ethereal sound that distinguished her previous work still resonates, but with her new album Khan seems to have forgone the experimental vocal effects. In ‘Laura’, the first track released from the album, her voice is laid bare, accompanied only by a haunting piano ballad. The effect is hypnotic.
The covers of her previous albums saw the singer adorned in glitter and body paint, which seemed incongruous with her ethereal vocals. But posing completely nude on the cover of The Haunted Man, Khan has quite literally shed the paraphernalia. This new approach is bold and contemporary, reflecting the content.
If ‘Laura’ is an indication of what is to come, The Haunted Man is set to be Khan’s strongest album to date.
