Funeral For A Friend to release new album

Indie | Friday 5th October 2012 | David

The Welsh rockers’ latest album is due to go live early next year, with a new single preceding it.

Last year saw Funeral For A Friend release their LP Welcome Home Armageddon, and the Bridgend-based quintet have no plans of taking too long a break. Despite drummer Ryan Richards leaving for family reasons, FFAF have stormed on and this is their first record with new member Pat Lundy behind the kit. The album, which is the band’s sixth, will be called Conduit, and has been described by singer Matthew Davies-Kreye as “five people on a stage, a conduit for the message and the music, delivering that to people who want to listen in, be a part of whatever it is that we’re doing and being involved.”

The first single from the new record, ‘Best Friends and Hospital Beds’, is due for release on 12th November, and is expected to be a little different from previous offerings, with Lundy’s history in metal band Rise To Remain helping the band to create a heavier sound. Whether this will set the tone for the entire album remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to compare the supposed sound with FFAF’s already heavier tracks such as ‘Streetcar’, which can be seen below.

The band will be playing London’s Alexandra Palace on 10th November, as part of the Vans Warped Tour.
