Sam Taylor-Wood directs new H&M collaboration

Shooting has begun for the hugely anticipated Maison Martin Margiela and H&M collaboration.
We have heard whispers of the new H&M collaboration for a while now but the first glimpse of what this involves has been revealed. The latest collection will come from Maison Martin Margiela who stormed Paris Fashion Week with angular shapes and bare shoulders. However, we have also heard that Sam Taylor-Wood has shot the latest campaign for the high street store.
Primarily known for her photography, Taylor-Wood made her directorial debut with the hit Nowhere Boy based on a young John Lennon. Recently she moved into combining both photography and moving image by joining forces with creative director Markus Kiersztan to shoot a series of short films and still photographs on the streets of Paris, all in the name of the clothing store H&M.
Speaking to WWD, Sam Taylor-Wood expressed the film roots which she used in the ad campaign: ‘Working with such as anarchic house as Martin Margiela alongside a high street brand was a challenge that creatively became a crazy, fun project.’
She continues by saying: ‘I wanted to create an atmosphere that was both quiet and still. That each person was in their own emotional and physical thought space. A world away from the heady atmosphere of the usual urban noise.’
This is evident in the only photograph to be released prior to the campaigns official release. The black and white still shows Taylor-Wood photographing a model dressed in an oversized jacket, stood between two cars in a Parisian Street.
We will have to wait until the end of October to see more from the campaign with the TV campaign launching on the 8th November. The collection will be available in stores from the 15th November.
