You’ve heard of “The Expendables”, the ultimate action film team. Well now imagine if you will Expendables , the band. No we’re not talking Bruce Willis on the drums and Stalone on vocals “ADRRRIIIAAANN!” No imagine the ultimate band. Well we give you Atoms for Peace. The equation:
Thom Yorke + Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. A sprinkling of Red Hot Chilli Pepper’s Flea + a side of percussions from Joey Waronker and Mauro Refosco and POW that is one tasty super band.
The band came into our wavelength quite some years ago playing much of Thom Yorke’s solo tracks however this weekend at a DJ set in Long Island, US, Yorke laid down some of their latest tracks and they fell on some very happy ears. Last week they announced their first single from the new album set for release in 2013 ‘Default’. These electronic sounds with Yorke’s unmistakable warped lullaby voice aren’t too far from “Eraser,” Yorke’s solo album.
Chilled with a beat is how we would describe this track. If you’re a fan of Radiohead’s more mellow side then this track might be for you. ‘Default’ is to us the perfect track for a beach party out in the sun with a cocktail in hand. However we are in England so we’ll settle for the sofa and a bud.
We are super excited for the album release next year.
Mr. Yorke don’t leave us hanging.
