The Californian band have announced they are in the studio to begin the recording of their sixth studio album.
Formed in 1997 by Josh Homme after the dissolution of his previous band Kyuss, QTSA released the self titled debut album the following year. Queens have gone on to receive critical acclaim and a cult following as influential pioneers in the stoner rock genre. Homme has also gone on to form super band Them Crooked Vultures alongside legends David Grohl (former drummer of Nirvana) and John Paul Jones (former bassist for Led Zeppelin) as well as famously producing Arctic Monkeys third studio album Humbug.
The release will be the bands first in nearly five years, the follow up to the 2007 album Era Vulgaris. The revelation will come as good news to fans after the recording of the album has reportedly been on- going for a few years now and is well over schedule as it was originally due for release in 2011.
One thing’s for certain for rock fans everywhere when this album does arrive it will be one not to be missed.
